This R8 has been a journey. When I first met Niju, it was for a set of BC Coilovers for this very car. When we hear from Niju we always get excited. He always has a cool friend to refer, or a new exciting stage for the R8 that at times we get to to be apart of that.
This stage of his build is by far our favorite. The wrap color, the turbo work, the air and of course the wheels. Once we knew we were bagging Niju’s car and he was going turbo with Brandon at B-Rouge we knew wheels were next! Niju wanted a true motorsport feeling vibe for this 800+HP single turbo manual 4.2 R8. I think he hit the nail right on the head with the LSR.

When you think CRV by Honda stance and show car usually doesn’t come to mind. Certainly niether does a negative offset, camber and air ride. That didn’t stop Rony from dreaming up quite possibly the baddest CRV we have ever had the pleasure of being apart of.
When we were asked for a quote for 21×10.5 -4/18 on a CRV, at first we contemplated if this was a PRANK. Quickly we saw how passionate and serious this request was. When we saw it come to fruition in real life, we were blown away! Now onto the details:

The BMW F30 chassis is a SUPER popular one for us at Wheel Lab. We wanted to showchase a good friend’s car we had the pleasure of setting up. When Mirel and I became friends, we became friends fast. The F30 328D coudln’t be any further away from the type of car that fits Mirel’s wild personality. Being his daily and his E36 M3 his fun car, we focused more on the looks of this one.
Our goal was a nice clean attitude change for the F30 while keeping it daily drive-able. We wanted a flush stance that was tucked perfectly under the fender, to avoid any unnecessary bodywork. With Mirel being from Boston, we knew coilovers wouldn’t cut it. Air Lift was the clear winner for suspension for this car and the RSE’s by Rotiform couldn’t have been a better choice for cast wheels.
The B8 chassis is one we know inside and out. A platform we have personally experienced 3 times over in the past! Probably the best A4/S4 chassis ever made in our opinion. When Hunter wanted something unique, didn’t break the bank and had custom finishes, BC Forged really stood out to us. The LE10 in particular was what we decided upon.

The S550 Mustang was a huge hit for Ford, and for us as a company. Even our own Joe Hoye succumbed to Bald Eagle Fever and got himself a S550 GT as well! When we think of the new S550 we think progress. Finally a Mustang with the fit and finish to go with the look and the power.
Chelsea wanted to have a flush, drive-able set up that retained performance while going low and a unique set of wheels to really complete her look. We knew right away air ride was going to be a nice compliment for her, especially with the wheel choice pick! 3 piece concave Rotiform KPS. One of the most unique split 5 spoke designs we have to offer. Now, onto the details of her set up!

The R32 is the car that got me into modding cars. It was the most influential part of mid-twenties. The adventures with the R32 of my own were endless, including meeting my now wife; a special car for a special place in my heart. 3.2 liters of a VR6 24v exiting a dual exhaust mated to a 6-speed transmission and Haldex AWD. This car was my drug of choice in my mid-twenties.
I have known Mikey Wynkoop a long time now. We have worked together on a few of his cars; but NEEDLESS to say, this is my favorite. The goal was a clean, functional stance on air. The car was a clean slate and IMMACULATE — one of the best examples I have seen in recent years.
Onto the important stuff: when we think of Volkswagen, Rotiform is just a natural suggestion. We wanted something unique. The idea of the FUC was tossed around, but when Mikey and I landed on the CHD-T by Rotiform we knew that was it.
When it came to the air ride, we wanted performance and reliability. For that, we tend to gravitate toward Air Lift Performance Series and 3P management. Mikey’s car is exactly that.

Who doesn’t love the R35 GTR. One of the MOST modded Japanese cars with unreal potential for horsepower. When Brenden approached us for a set of wheels to compliment his R35, we were happy to help. We sell wheels in A LOT of budgets for A LOT of different cars, tastes, needs, etc. Our customer here wanted functional fitment, a clean style, a unique color and did not want to obliterate his budget. The Rohana RFX series came immediately to mind.
Wheel Design: Rohana RFX11 - Brushed Bronze
Wheel Specs: 20×10.5 et38 20×12 et22
Needless to say the car LOOKED amazing static, but we were NOT done there. Brenden and myself knew from the get go air suspension was the target. The R35 Kit from Air Lift is particularly impressive mated with 3P or 3H management. Proven to perform BETTER than the OEM magnetic suspension on the track. We knew this was the perfect compliment to drive low, and drive hard when he wanted.

When you start a build you know it will change over time. This isn’t put first encounter with Devhan’s. His first set of wheels came from us when he first bagged the car with us. A killer combo to say the least. A full Air Lift 3P kit matched with Cast Rotiform KPS in 18×9.5 et25 to clear the huge OEM STI brakes. A VERY attractive set up.
That is when Devhan knew he wanted to step it up. He wanted his “forever” wheels if you will, if there is such a thing! With his STI, I think we found just that. We decided on the Rotiform LVS.

Just like that, his forever wheels became a reality! Enjoy some pics and video of his set up. Devhan is running what we call aggressive fitment for the VA WRX/STI Chassis. He is running about -3° Degrees camber up front and about -7° in the rear with stretched 225/40r18 tires. This is what we call PERFECT FITMENT. Enjoy!
In Review: B8/8.5 Air Lift Performance Kit. A kit we know incredibly well from our personal stint with our own 2011 Audi S4 shop project. A car I personally revered as closely as my 2004 VW R32 that until the S4 skid into my life WAS the coolest car I have ever owned.
S4 Project: 2011 Audi S4 Air Lift Performance Suspension with Air Lift Rear Shocks 19×10 et31 Work Meister S1 with 245/35r19 tucked quite nicely Factory Camber Adjustment: MAXED
With so much seat time in this car we became experts quickly with the B8 community. This covers a VAST amount of cars which we had three as shop cars. The B8 S4 and B8.5 SQ5 and A4. So we essentially tested each kit 3 ways across a few B8 Platforms. The results were awesome.
Drive high, park low. Retain the same level of performance of a traditional coilover system. BC Racing essentially makes the body, internals and top mount to Air Lift’s specifications. So you truly get the performance of one of the most popular coilovers we sell the BC BR series.
This is just a platform we love and reverse as one of the best Audi platforms in modern time. Feel free to pick our brains anytime with personalized advice. All of these cars feature 3/8″ lines and the air lift performance rear shocks with the exception of the SQ5.
We wanted to test out a Bilstein adjustable and went that direction. We also had shortened spindles sourced from friends in the industry and some serious body mods done to get it this low. The SQ5 was a bit more involved than meets the eye. We will showcase more of this project at a later date.
These kits performed as expected. Stiffer than stock, but no bounce. Daily driving, Performance driving, traffic, terrible Boston roads… you name it we drove it. I would not have preferred any other set up in my car for suspension. Driving a lowered car otherwise static on treacherous northeastern city roads was just not an option for me with the S4. It was TOO nice of a car.
I personally rode my car around 80/60 PSI with a pressure based management system. This was my around town height on the works, 70/55 was pretty slammed and rode a little more harsh but still not bad. I set the compression 2 clicks up in front and 4 clicks up in back. I drive pretty hard. We did drag and road course days with this car and beat the ever living sh*t out of this air lift kit in testing. It took everything I could throw at it, and even turned an 11.93 at 118 MPH time at NE Dragway here in NH. On Air Lift.
My car at time time was running V2 (not my favorite) and by the time 3P was coming out, I was moving on to another project. My E46 M3 (story for another time).
The 3p/3h system is the management we recommend and mainly sell. Lifetime warranty, amazing weather testing, adaptability and ease of use. Those are the reasons we are borderline obsessed with selling this product. Its literally so easy and reliable its hard to want to recommend alternatives.
In closing, we do a lot of B8’s and Audi’s in general. If you have questions do not hesitate to contact us for a consultation! Email [email protected] or call 978-219-9060
