Customer Spotlight: Niju’s R8 Turbo x Rotiform LSR x Air Lift

This R8 has been a journey. When I first met Niju, it was for a set of BC Coilovers for this very car. When we hear from Niju we always get excited. He always has a cool friend to refer, or a new exciting stage for the R8 that at times we get to to be apart of that.

This stage of his build is by far our favorite. The wrap color, the turbo work, the air and of course the wheels. Once we knew we were bagging Niju’s car and he was going turbo with Brandon at B-Rouge we knew wheels were next! Niju wanted a true motorsport feeling vibe for this 800+HP single turbo manual 4.2 R8. I think he hit the nail right on the head with the LSR.

Customer Spotlight: Rony’s CRV x Rotiform NEK

When you think CRV by Honda stance and show car usually doesn’t come to mind. Certainly niether does a negative offset, camber and air ride. That didn’t stop Rony from dreaming up quite possibly the baddest CRV we have ever had the pleasure of being apart of.

When we were asked for a quote for 21×10.5 -4/18 on a CRV, at first we contemplated if this was a PRANK. Quickly we saw how passionate and serious this request was. When we saw it come to fruition in real life, we were blown away! Now onto the details:

Customer Spotlight: Mirel’s F30 328D x Air Lift x Rotiform RSE

The BMW F30 chassis is a SUPER popular one for us at Wheel Lab. We wanted to showchase a good friend’s car we had the pleasure of setting up. When Mirel and I became friends, we became friends fast. The F30 328D coudln’t be any further away from the type of car that fits Mirel’s wild personality. Being his daily and his E36 M3 his fun car, we focused more on the looks of this one.

Our goal was a nice clean attitude change for the F30 while keeping it daily drive-able. We wanted a flush stance that was tucked perfectly under the fender, to avoid any unnecessary bodywork. With Mirel being from Boston, we knew coilovers wouldn’t cut it. Air Lift was the clear winner for suspension for this car and the RSE’s by Rotiform couldn’t have been a better choice for cast wheels.

Shop Car Spotlight: E46 M3 x Rotiform LSR - final stage

The car here is a 2003.5 BMW M3 in Alpine white with a 6spd manual and 50,400 original miles in these pics, with factory nav, full black napa leather. Essentially the dream car from my highschool days. In its current state even better than I could have ever imagined. Shortly after this photoshoot the car was sold to a friend in Colorado who is enjoying what the M3 became. The perfect driving machine.

It has been tastefully upgraded my by myself into what I really wanted out of a BMW M3. I wanted the car to be drive-able and look the part. I wanted the CSL experience with a manual gearbox. So in we dove over about a year including some serious bodywork and paint by Precision Collision we didn’t plan to really do, but with anything, projects tend to just get out of control. Especially when you want to fit a 11.5″ rear with a 275.

Here are some of the build details.

For suspension: Status Gruppe SRS coilovers with 8/9k springs and adjustable pillowball camber mounts
SPC rear control arms

For wheels: We did Rotiform LSR in a 3 piece convex rear load configuration finished in matte trans candy gold face, chrome lips and hardware and black barrels. Sizing is 18×10 et25 and 18×11.5 et20, tire choice is a 245/40r18 and 275/35r18 from nitto. Car is set up with -2.5 degrees camber up front and -2.8 degrees in the rear

Performance wise we have done the following: Status gruppe full exhaust with - catless headers, rasp reduction section 1, SCZA section 3 with titanium tips
2m open velocity stacks
TTFS custom alpha N tune
Auto solutions 30% reduction short throw with the ultimate package and race bearings

On the Body: Full Respray Alpine white, extended rear arches by 10mm and fixed every little detail that we didn’t like. We also added a 1 piece Status Gruppe CSL front and rear splitter as well as color matched side markers.

STACK ON STACKS ON STACKS!

Customer Spotlight: Rotiform SIX OR x Andew’s Porsche Cayenne Turbo S

The Porsche Cayenne Turbo S is a MONSTER of an SUV. My first experience was in This EXACT generation. My Aunt’s lent me her Cayenne Turbo S when I was visiting California for the first time. I was at a much younger age and doing donuts on the beach in Santa Cruz was all I could dream of! AND THOSE DREAMS CAME TRUE! (Sorry Aunt Steph I couldn’t help it!)

I was hooked then and still to this day love the gravity defying speed the Turbo S delivers, even by today’s standards. What could make it better? More power and a more rowdy stance? I think so. Enter Andrew, when he said he wanted to be different, we just didn’t exactly know what to expect at first. The outcome, well we will let you judge for yourself. The BX Built Cayenne Turbo S, enjoy!

Customer Spotlight: Chelsea’s S550 x Rotiform and Air Lift

The S550 Mustang was a huge hit for Ford, and for us as a company. Even our own Joe Hoye succumbed to Bald Eagle Fever and got himself a S550 GT as well! When we think of the new S550 we think progress. Finally a Mustang with the fit and finish to go with the look and the power.

Chelsea wanted to have a flush, drive-able set up that retained performance while going low and a unique set of wheels to really complete her look. We knew right away air ride was going to be a nice compliment for her, especially with the wheel choice pick! 3 piece concave Rotiform KPS. Customer Spotlight: MKIV R32 x Rotiform CHD-T x Air Lift Performance

The R32 is the car that got me into modding cars. It was the most influential part of mid-twenties. The adventures with the R32 of my own were endless, including meeting my now wife; a special car for a special place in my heart. 3.2 liters of a VR6 24v exiting a dual exhaust mated to a 6-speed transmission and Haldex AWD. This car was my drug of choice in my mid-twenties.

I have known Mikey Wynkoop a long time now. We have worked together on a few of his cars; but NEEDLESS to say, this is my favorite. The goal was a clean, functional stance on air. The car was a clean slate and IMMACULATE — one of the best examples I have seen in recent years.

Onto the important stuff: when we think of Volkswagen, Rotiform is just a natural suggestion. We wanted something unique. The idea of the FUC was tossed around, but when Mikey and I landed on the CHD-T by Rotiform we knew that was it.

When it came to the air ride, we wanted performance and reliability. For that, we tend to gravitate toward Air Lift Performance Series and 3P management. Mikey’s car is exactly that.

Wheel Design:
Rotiform CHD-T
3-piece concave, rear load rim parts

Customer Spotlight - Devhan’s 2015 STI x Rotiform LVS X Air Lift

When you start a build you know it will change over time. This isn’t put first encounter with Devhan’s. His first set of wheels came from us when he first bagged the car with us. A killer combo to say the least. A full Air Lift 3P kit matched with Cast Rotiform KPS in 18×9.5 et25 to clear the huge OEM STI brakes. A VERY attractive set up.

Cast Rotiform Available Here

That is when Devhan knew he wanted to step it up. He wanted his “forever” wheels if you will, if there is such a thing! With his STI, I think we found just that. We decided on the Rotiform LVS.

Rotiform LVS
18×10.5 et15 front
18×10.5 et20 rear
Polished Rose Gold Face
Chrome Lip
Chrome Hardware

Just like that, his forever wheels became a reality! Enjoy some pics and video of his set up. Devhan is running what we call aggressive fitment for the VA WRX/STI Chassis. He is running about -3° Degrees camber up front and about -7° in the rear with stretched 225/40r18 tires. This is what we call PERFECT FITMENT. Enjoy!

Here We R [Again]

Photos/Video by Melissa Curtis
@missamagnificent

Over the winter, we picked up a 2015 Golf R. It didn’t take long before a wheel choice was made, a trunk setup was drawn up, and parts were ordered. You see, this isn’t the first R in the Curtis family. The generations of different Rs and R32s have a special place in our heart here at Wheel Lab. Our original was the infamous Tornado Red MKIV that was spray bombed “Urban Camo” by our good friend Benji. It was set up for the track finely tuned with every possible suspension modification that you could think of under the sun.

This time, we took a bit of a different approach.

Melissa took it to photoshop to decide on the car’s first set of wheels. It didn’t take long for us to speak with our friends at Air Lift and Rotiform about what we wanted to do.

Alas, we decided to put in the order for a square set of 19×9 et42 Rotiform WRWs and then the waiting began.

As the anticipated ship date of the wheels approached, the snow began to melt. Our good friend Dan Pendleton (@danjpendleton) listened to our idea and got to work like a mad scientist in his laboratory, ahem, garage. Dan is an absolute genius and is extremely meticulous about what he does. With the help of our friend Al (@kap0ne), the car was put together - trunk setup and all - just in time for Dustoff.

We absolutely cannot thank Dan and Al enough for all of the hard work that they put into making our vision a reality. Cheers to the start of a wonderful new project!

@forevr_the_sickest_kid x Mini Clubman

Photos and words by Melissa Curtis (@missamagnificent)

Spring is naturally a magical time of year for car enthusiast. Time to put away that daily driver, wipe the dust (or car cover) off of your sleeping beauty (err, car), and throw on that new set of wheels. Yes, the ones you have been waiting all winter for: it’s time to treat yo’self.I spent the winter longing for warmer days and lowered cars. Now that show season is back, I will fully appreciate every last ounce of craziness.

Josh’s MINI Clubman on Rotiform BLQ-Ts was a project Wheel Lab was working on. Naturally, I would be the one to shoot it since it’s a local customer car.

I’ve always been more of a traditional “vanilla” set of wheels type of person, but this particular set is now one of my favorites that I’ve seen on a car. It’s far from your traditional three piece wheel, polished lip, brushed/silver face (yes, yes, I’m super guilty of that on a personal level).

Before I keep rambling on, I present to you this blue beauty on rose-copper BLQ-T two-piece wheels:
